Fani-Kayode made the remark in reaction to comments by the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, who downplayed the possibilities of the Buhari-led government restructuring Nigeria.
In a series of tweets, the former minister said Malami’s position on restructuring was “disingenuous and self-serving.”
Fani-Kayode tweeted: “When you close the door to restructuring, which this govt effectively did last night with the A-G’s interview on @channelstv, you are opening the door to self-determination and secession.
“The idea that Nigeria will remain as she is today for much longer is a masturbatory illusion.
“The assertion by the Attorney General that there can be no restructuring until Governors devolve power to the LGA’s is specious, disingenuous, self-serving and unsustainable.
“As long as Nigeria claims to be a Federation power MUST be devolved from the centre to the federating units.”
