Woro: We’re working with security agencies on terrorists’ video — Kwara Govt

The Kwara State Government has expressed deep concern over a disturbing video released by terrorists, allegedly showing victims abducted during the February 3 attack on Woro community.

In a statement on Friday, the government said it is working closely with security agencies to analyse the footage and verify the identities of those seen in the video.

“Our thoughts are with the affected families. We remain fully committed to securing the safe return of all victims,” the government stated.

Authorities acknowledged that the video may heighten public anxiety but assured residents that security operatives are carefully reviewing the footage as part of ongoing rescue efforts.

The government noted that conflicting accounts have emerged regarding the actual number of abducted persons. As a result, neither the state nor security agencies have confirmed any specific figure.

Community leaders in Woro have been engaged to help identify those appearing in the footage. Preliminary findings suggest that some individuals have been identified as residents of the community, while others remain unaccounted for.

Officials added that some persons initially reported missing have since reunited with their families, while others may have temporarily relocated to neighbouring communities, including Wawa and New Bussa in Niger State.

The state’s response committee, led by His Highness Ahmed Ibn Muhammed, is coordinating efforts with security agencies, local authorities, and community stakeholders to facilitate humanitarian support and secure the victims’ safe return.

The government urged residents to remain calm, refrain from spreading unverified information, and cooperate fully with security agencies, assuring that verified updates will be provided as investigations progress.
