WHO supports Nigeria’s fight against yellow fever

The World Health Organization (WHO) says it is supporting the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control as well as Delta and Enugu States to respond to the recent yellow fever outbreaks in some communities in the states.

A statement on Wednesday from WHO Nigeria Office said with the onset of the current outbreak, epidemiologists and other health professionals in WHO, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and National Primary Healthcare Development Agency were working in support of state public health teams or rapid response teams trained in the affected states.

“Outbreak investigation is ongoing in each state through the RRTs under the coordination of respective state Ministries of Health.

“Hospitals have been identified in each state and capacitated to manage patients who develop symptoms and complications,” the statement said. (Daily Trust)
