By Chijioke Chijioke, Jos

A group of Plateau women has intensified effort for a University of Jos professor of Microbiology, Mrs. Patricia Lar, to succeed the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Seddi Maimako.

The women under the aegis of Inspired Women of Plateau South made their intentions known in a statement sent to our correspondent on Wednesday in Jos.

The women said their support couldn’t have gone to any other person since Lar is the only female among the 18 contestants aspiring for the Unijos VC.

The group in a statement signed by its spokesman, Juliana Nanjul, said Lar has a wealth of expirence to lead the University.

According to the group: “We believe that if she  emerge, she will excel and we are ready to support her in whatever way possible.

“Lar has worked for over 30 years in the University of Jos and we feel it is not wrong for her to aspire for the number one position in the university. She is an icon to the female folks, a beacon of good administration and promoter of excellence.

“Her track records no doubt depicts her as a good administrator, hence if given the opportunity she would lead well.

“If appointed, she would bring her wealth of experience to bear in moving the university to the next level,” the statement said.
