Three Nigerians defeat 7,000 candidates to head Twitter founder’s Bitcoin Trust Fund
The Nigerians named in a statement released by the Twitter founder were Obi Nwosu who is the Co-founder of Coinfloor, cryptocurrency startup; Ojoma Ochai who is the Managing Partner at CcHUBCreative (Co-Creation Hub), a technology innovation workspace and Abubakar Nur Khalil Bitcoin Core Contributor.
A South African, Carla Kirk-Cohen who is also a software engineer at Lightning Labs was the fourth member of the board.
In February 2021, Dorsey announced that he is launching a new endowment- ‘₿trust’ in partnership with Hip Hop rapper, Jay – Z.
BTrust is aimed at funding Bitcoin development, with initial focus in Africa and India.
But the board has been reviewed to accommodate four members.
The new board members were selected from 7,000 applicants who applied to be on the board.

“They’ll now work towards defining the operating principles as they think about how to best distribute the 500 bitcoin towards development efforts.
“A massive thank you to the working team that made this happen. 7,000 applications to these incredible 4, all reviewed with purpose and rigor.”
