The Federal Government, on Monday night, said the organized labour has shelved its plan to hold a nationwide protest on Tuesday against the recent government-approved hike in tariff by telecommunications companies in the country.

Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this after a meeting between federal officials and leaders of organized labour.

The Federal Government delegation was led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.

Labour was led by the NLC President, Joe Ajaero.

As part of the agreements reached, a 10-member committee, consisting of five members from each side, was set up.

It is to review the tariff hike report and propose solutions that address the concerns of telecom operators and consumers.

The committee is expected to submit its findings in two weeks.
