The Director General, World Igbo Summit Group and frontline PDP governorship aspirant for this year’s Anambra State governorship election, Dr. Ifedi Okwenna, has called on members of Christ Healing Sabbath Mission Worldwide who converged on Amichi Headquarters, for their Annual Feast and Convention, to massively support PDP to restore good governance to Anambra State.
Dr Okwenna made this remarks while addressing the special session of the 2021 Annual Convention and feast of the Church. He reminded the over 2500 participants of the need to participate actively in the emergence of the next Governor of Anambra State. Dr. Okwenna urged those who have not officially registered to vote, to ensure the make use of the window for continous voter registration which will be opened ahead of 2021 General election.
The Ugwumba Osumenyi used the opportunity to inform them of his aspiration to govern Anambra State. And that if elected will pursue the agenda of inclusiveness by ensuring that all religious denominations in Anambra State, are fully accommodated in his Government. The former Commissioner gor Environment said, he will not segregate anybody based on religion, zone, local government or any other configuration whatsoever.
Dr Okwenna stated that if elected, he will rebuild trust in government and in the governmental system. As according to him “the legitimacy of our political and social systems is built on the trust and confidence of the people who serve us”. The Ugwumba Osumenyi, said his aspiration is anchored on five core objectives and 26 innovative plans in different sectors, all aimed at innovating Anambra State.
On Health, Dr. Okwenna stated that he will ensure that Ndi Anambra are made to use “the promotive, preventive, curative, rehabilitative and palliative health services they need, of sufficient quality to be effective, while also ensuring that the use of these services does not expose the user to financial hardship”. He stated that he is determined to amongst other things “stem the very high level of private, out-of-pocket (OOP) household spending that currently forms more than three quarters of all health expenditure in Anambra State.”
Finally Dr. Okwenna told the congregation that when elected, he will enthrone competence, excellence in service, due process, transparency and accountability and ensure the prudent management of the state resources.
Earlier in his Speech, the Prinate of the church Worldwide, Elochukwu Onuabuchi bemoaned the decay in governance of the state and the determination of the Church to participate actively in restoring good governance to Anambra State. He assured Dr. Okwenna that if he emerges as the flag bearer of PDP, he will mobilize all members of the Church in all parishes in Anambra State to vote PDP.
