Shut your door against desperate lobbyists, Col Umar tells Tinubu

A former Military Governor of Kaduna State, Colonel Abubakar Dangiwa Umar (rtd), has advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to avoid those he called desperate lobbyists.

In a statement on Monday, Umar said there were people who are showing “embarrassing desperation” who President Tinubu must avoid their company, reports the News Express.

Umar warned Mr President against appointing into his administration, past corrupt leaders who embezzled public finds and plunged their states into huge debts.

He further advised President Tinubu also shut his door against past governors who left their state polarised along ethnic lines, as he maintained that public office could not be left to people of dubious character.

The statement entitled ‘Shut Your Door Against Desperate Lobbyists, Mr President,’ was personally signed by the retired Colonel. It reads:

“Mr President please avoid the company of people who show embarrassing desperation in lobbying for appointment in your government.

“Public Office is a trust which should not be extended to persons of dubious character, particularly former Governors who have bankrupted their states and left them with heavy debt burden and deeply divided along ethnic and religious lines.

“You cannot afford to be diverted from the onerous task of reclaiming the country which Dr Umar Ardo correctly characterised as a failed state.”
