Shards of Flowers, By Kelechi C. Ogbamgba

Like splintered rocks
cascading down the monstrous hills
It came tumbling down
turgid,
turbulent,
troublingly torrential
Just a bouquet of flowers
she sprawled along the lane
to pollinate the crackling landscape
But now with the intruder,
down it came tumbling down
in a riotous descent with sparks
battering
cracking
dissembling
Alarmed, down she rushed
to retrieve her fluttering bouquet
of splintered flowers
Defiled, deflowered, dispossessed
And the once arable land scorched,
raped of her morning dews
