Ireti Kingibe, the Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), reports Radio Nigeria.

Senator Kingibe, who collected her ADC membership card in Abuja, said her decision to join the party was driven by a desire to strengthen her political platform and better deliver democratic dividends to her constituents.

Senator Kingibe urged members of the ADC to work diligently towards ensuring the party’s success in the 2026 Area Council elections and the 2027 general election.

Ralphs Okey-Nwosu, a former National Chairman of the ADC, who also spoke at the event, said the party was focused on winning all Area Council chairmanship seats as well as National Assembly positions in the FCT.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Deputy National Organising Secretary of the ADC, welcomed Senator Kingibe to the party and assured her of the party’s commitment to achieving electoral victories in future polls.

The event also featured the presentation of ADC flags to the party’s candidates for the six Area Councils in the Federal Capital Territory.
