Sanwo-Olu lifts Lagos curfew, asks all civil servants to resume work on Monday
Lagos governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has lifted the curfew imposed on the State in the wake of the violence that erupted following the shooting of EndSARS protesters at the Lekki toll gate.
The order lifting the curfew, he said, is with immediate effect.
The information was contained in a press statement by Gbenga Omotoso, the Lagos Commissioner for Information and Strategy, on Saturday.
The statement read: “The curfew imposed on Lagos State after the hijack of the peaceful EndSARS protests has been lifted immediately. The 12am to 4am curfew imposed by the Federal Government to curb the spread of COVID-19 remains.
“Lagosians are free to go about their business without any hindrance whatsoever. Security agencies will continue to discharge their duties.
“Lagosians are urged to co-operate with them to maintain the status of our state as one of the most peaceful.
“Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu thanks security agencies for their efforts in restoring peace to our troubled communities. He commends Lagosians for observing the curfew and ensuring the return of normalcy.
“The Governor urges the citizenry not to do or encourage any action that may turn back the clock, but to keep living in harmony as we get set to rebuild our dear State and strengthen the unity that we are known for.”
Meanwhile, the governor also directed the State’s public servants from Grade Levels 1-12, who had hitherto since the COVID-19 lockdown in March been working from home, to resume in their offices from Monday, November 2, 2020.
This announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Head of Service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
The latest easing of the lockdown, according to the statement, is sequel to the recommendation of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 and the State Ministry of Health advisory on same.
“It is hereby notified for general information that Mr. Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has approved that all public servants on salary grade levels 1 – 12, who were directed to work from home since March, 2020, resume at the office with effect from Monday, 2nd November, 2020.
“Furthermore, in order to ensure physical distancing in respective MDAs, Accounting Officers are to maintain attendance duty roster and ensure strict compliance with all COVID-19 protocols in the workplace.
Muri-Okunola charged all Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies to note the contents of the circular for compliance and give it the Service-wide publicity it deserves.
It would be recalled that public servants from levels 1-12 have been working from home since the covid-19 lockdown in March.
