PDP: Damagum, Anyanwu serving tea, ‘kilishi’ in Gbajabiamila’s house – Deji Adeyanju
Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has made serious accusations against the acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, and the party’s National Secretary, Sam Anyanwu, alleging that both are covertly working for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
In a recent appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, Adeyanju claimed that Damagum has been seen serving tea at the house of Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, while Anyanwu allegedly serves ‘Kilishi’ there, suggesting a close and questionable relationship between these key figures in the PDP and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Adeyanju went on to accuse the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and Damagum of being “moles” within the PDP, working to advance Tinubu’s agenda. He asserted that Wike effectively controls the national level of the PDP and that the party is being manipulated by figures loyal to the APC, which has compromised its ability to function as a true opposition party. According to Adeyanju, the current leadership of the PDP, under Wike, Damagum, and Anyanwu, is paving the way for Tinubu to install a presidential candidate of his choosing in 2027.
Further criticizing the state of opposition politics in Nigeria, Adeyanju lamented the lack of a viable challenge to the ruling government. He emphasized that the public’s faith in the institutions and opposition parties has eroded, citing the failure of the PDP to hold its own National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting. He argued that the current leadership’s collaboration with the APC means that the PDP is effectively no longer a legitimate opposition party. Adeyanju also warned that Tinubu’s method of “crushing opposition” has been consistent, referencing his long-standing control over Lagos politics, where he allegedly anointed leaders to ensure his dominance.
Adeyanju’s claims paint a troubling picture of Nigerian politics, with the alleged collaboration between the PDP and APC raising concerns about the future of democracy and opposition in the country. These accusations have intensified the ongoing debate about the integrity and independence of opposition parties in Nigeria.
