Pastor Kumuyi urges Christians to redefine politics, anticipates miracles at December retreat

General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM), Pastor William F. Kumuyi, has encouraged Christians to step into politics and reshape the nation’s political landscape, emphasizing that those who shy away from political involvement lose the right to complain when governance fails.
Speaking at the Deeper Life International Conference Center (DLICC) in Lagos during a press briefing on Wednesday, ahead of the church’s annual December retreat and the Global Crusade with Kumuyi (GCK), he stressed the importance of embracing one’s divine calling.
“God gives to everyone according to his ability to serve,” Kumuyi stated. “To some, He gave the gift of teaching, to others evangelism, pastoring, and even politics. God calls us to use our abilities for His purpose.”
The highly anticipated December retreat, running concurrently with the monthly GCK, carries the theme ‘Power for Present Possession’ and promises to be a time of unprecedented miracles, healing, and deliverance.
Kumuyi expressed his excitement, saying, “God is ready to bless His people. There will be healing and deliverance. Power for present possession is available, and I am thrilled to see people come and be blessed.”
Known for his measured stance on political discourse, Kumuyi nonetheless pointed out the church’s often invisible but critical role in uplifting society. “We are doing our part to help the people we come in contact with. Through programs like our prison outreach, we cater to the welfare of inmates while sharing the good news of Christ,” he shared.
Highlighting the need for innovation in ministry, Kumuyi added, “The church has been too passive in using technology and available resources to spread the gospel. Moving forward, we will leverage every available technological means to share Christ’s message.”
The December retreat, a staple in the Deeper Life calendar, offers a time for reflection and spiritual empowerment as the year concludes. Kumuyi reaffirmed that God would manifest His power, saying, “God will prove Himself mighty, and ‘Power for Present Possession’ will be available for everyone who seeks Him.”
As the retreat approaches, Kumuyi’s message serves as both a spiritual call to action and an encouragement for Christians to embrace their God-given roles, including active participation in shaping societal and political change.
