PAAF to launch Nigerian Constitution in Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba

The Prince Ade Ajayi Foundation (PAAF) has concluded plans  to launch the book ‘I Love Nigeria, My Country’ in three Nigerian languages namely Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa this November.

According to Prince Ajayi who spoke during the press briefing in Lagos the aims is to help Nigerians understand their rights as spelt out in the constitution, saying that the translation of the constitution is to make accessible to everyone -especially those who can read it in indigenous languages.to trigger national orientation and reorientation.

As well as increase awareness amongst the citizenry about their rights, responsibilities and obligations to the various governments and the nation and encourage accountability of public office holders as well as check abuse of fundamental human rights by the government and their agencies etc.

According to him its also expected to liberate the citizens from complete ignorance, promote the heritage of the Nigerian indigenous languages and cultures and ensure participatory democracy -by boosting access to social justice and accountability.

He opined that participatory democracy and constitutional literacy and civic education  is not a sprint, maintaining that PAAF Centre for Constitutional Literacy and Civic Education aims to ensure that the nations constitution is in every home and translated to every Nigerian language.

Given this fact he said the are working in partnership with other groups and individuals and that as time goes on the centre will unveil these partners in the overall interest of the nation.

Hence, he urged Nigerians to pray for the peace of the nation because its when there is peace that the people that make up the nation can prosper, adding that government cannot do it all, but can provide peace and security which can enable operators of the economy to profit.
