Oyo: Don’t blame Gov Makinde over insecurity – Information Commissioner
By Bolaji Omosonya
The Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, has condemned insinuations by some critiics of Governor Seyi Makinde that he does not have what it takes to handle the security situation in the state unlike the immediate past administration.
According to him, it is only those who do not see anything good in the PDP – led Government that are behind the campaign of calumny.
He said that any right thinking person who is conversant with relevant sections of the Nigerian Constitution would know that security is under the exclusive list which puts all arms of security forces under the federal government.
Olatunbosun said that even though the security of the nation is the responsibility of everyone, the spate of kidnappings, killings, rape and atrocities been perpetrated by some Fulani herdsmen, Boko Haram and bandits is not peculiar to the state alone.
He stated that the Amokun Corps in conjunction with the men of the Nigerian Police Force have been doing a lot in the bid to stem the tide of the menace.
Continuing , Olatunbosun called on all the residents in the state not to hesitate to give information to appropriate quarters without fear on suspected criminal activities in their area.
He added that anyone who says Governor Seyi Makinde is not doing anything about the situation on ground or that he lacks what it takes is been economical with the truth.
Olatunbosun maintained that Governor’s Makinde’s only weakness is his love for the people.
