Over 1,000 terror groups now operating in Africa, former UN top diplomat Prof Gambari reveals
Former Nigeria Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, says there are over 1,000 terrorists groups across the Africa continent.
Gambari said this while delivering his goodwill message at the ongoing Africa Chiefs of Defence Staff Summit, in Abuja, on Monday, reports The Nation.
The summit is themed, “Combating Contemporary Threats to Regional Peace and Security in Africa: The Role of Strategic Defence Collaboration.”
Gambari noted that African militaries must strives to protect their individuals countries, them to their regions and collectively the entire continent.
He emphasised that African countries must reinvigorate our defence industries and protect homegrown technologies and to prevent it from being control from outsiders.
