Nigeria’s national pension assets records major growth with a rise to N1trn as at June 30 this year 

Nigeria’s pension contributors upward profile has witnessed a tremendous growth, rising to N16trillion as at June 30, 2023 up from N14.99trillion in December 31, 2022.


This was disclosed by the National Pension Commission Director General, Mrs. Aisha Dahir-Umar in her keynote address at the 2023 Journalist Conference in Ikeja, Lagos.


In the first half of the year, membership also increased by 146,920 new contributors, from 9.36 million as at the end of 2022 to over 10 million as of June 2023, reports Business Post.


The theme of the annual event is ‘Transforming Service Delivery in the Pension Industry: Strategies for Improving Efficiency and Customer Satisfaction.’


The Director General, whose paper was presented by the Head Corporate Communications, Abdulqabir Dahiru, said, “The CPS has ensured that public and private sector workers can build retirement savings throughout their working lives, fostering financial security during their golden years.”


She also explained PenCom has left no gap in its supervisory functions, maintaining that its “proactive regulatory has strengthened the oversight and safeguarding the oversight and safeguarding the interests of pension contributors.”
