The Kwara State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has dismissed as false reports alleging that Fulani herders were issued eviction notices in parts of the state.

In a statement made available to journalists in Ilorin, the state chairman of MACBAN, Alhaji Shehu Garba, said no such directive was given in any community across Kwara.

Garba explained that the association conducted inquiries in areas mentioned in the social media reports, including Patigi and Gbugbu in Ifelodun Local Government Area, and found no evidence to support the claims.

He described the rumour as a fabrication by individuals bent on disrupting the peace in the state.

According to him, no eviction notice was issued by the state government, local authorities, traditional institutions, or vigilante groups anywhere in Kwara.

The MACBAN chairman commended the state government, security agencies, and other stakeholders for sustaining peace and security across the state.

He urged law-abiding Fulani residents to go about their legitimate activities without fear, advising them to ignore the false reports.

Garba also cautioned criminal elements within the community to desist from unlawful acts and leave the state, stressing the need to preserve peace and harmony.
