MAN should guarantee loans to boost credit approval by ECOWAS Bank – EBID President
The President of ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), Dr George Donkor, has urged the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) and other Organized Private Sector (OPS) in the Country to be ready to guarantee loan request of members to boost approvals and credit facilitation by banks.
Donkor who was speaking during the Annual General Meeting of MAN export Group held at its Head-Office at Ikeja- Lagos, said the arrangement would help his bank facilitate more loans to Nigerian exporters.
In his welcome address, the Chairman MAN Export Promotion Group, Chief Ede Dafinone said the AGM being the fourth provides an opportunity the review the economy and the performance of the non-oil sector among others.
He thanked MANEG members for their professionalism and dedication in spite of the harsh macro-economic and business environment in which they operate.
Speaking on the theme of the event ”The Implication of Impository and Retaliatory Tariffs and Non-Tariffs Barriers on Trade Within the ECOWAS Sub-region”, President ,National Association of Nigeran Traders, Dr Ken Ukaoha stressed his support for the on-going efforts being made by the National Action Committee(NAC) to sensitize Nigerians of the African Continental free trade area (AfCFTA).
He stated his believes that AfCFTA will be a success going forward, stressing that Nigerian businesses will perform well the right preparation and support. He said that Nigerian exporters are eager to tap into the opportunities offered by AfCFTA.
The Controller of Custom, Anthony Ayalogu in his contribution called on all Nigerian exporters to support the Customs Single window, saying that that is the way to go if the exporters need efficiency, accountability and due-process to thrive at our nation’s ports.
He said those campaigning for the erection of other single windows in the export of goods and services does not want to ensure efficiency at our ports, maintaining that the Customs single Window is doing great and can even do better with the support of all and sundry.
