A Fulani Hausa community leader in Makurdi State, Alh. Abdul Yahaya, has said if all governors in the 36 States of the federation could fight insecurity with the vigor and commitment of Governor Samuel Ortom, the menance would have been greatly controlled.
Recall that Ortom have severally called on the federal government to declare State of emergency on insecurity in the country.
Also Recall that the Benue Governor had met with President Mohammedu Buhari on several occasions telling him if insecurity in the country persists the 2023 elections may not hold.
However, speaking to our correspondent on Thursday, Yahaya said Ortom is the best thing to happen to the Benue people, adding that if it is possible for Ortom to remain in office for more than eight years he would urge Benue people to vote him again.
“But since it is not possible, let him anoint a credible successor that will replace him in office”, he said.
Our correspondent said that It will be noted that the media had severally reported that Ortom has vowed that his administration would do everything under the law to ensure that peace returns to the State.
The Governor has also on several occasions reiterated the need for Benue people to always support security agents deployed to end crisis in their areas and had always admonished the people against attack on security agents, saying such acts would make the situation extremely difficult to contain.
