In a news that was published by The Premium Times Newspaper online Saturday, it was reported that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, said that there was a conspiracy against the Igbos in Nigeria, to deny them Presidency.

He claimed there was a “deliberate attempt” by some unnamed persons, to deny Igbo-speaking people of the South-East geopolitical zone an opportunity to produce a Nigerian president in 2023, as he said this on Wednesday, when he met with the leadership of Nzuko Umunna, a pan Igbo political organisation, according to a statement by his spokesperson, Onyebuchi Ememanka, on Thursday.

However, while Daniel Bwala, who happens to be the official spokesperson to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party’s Presidential Campaign Council for the 2023 presidential election, was reacting to this on his official Twitter handle Saturday afternoon, he said the statement doesn’t fit Okezie Ikpeazu’s mouth.

Bwala claimed Ikpeazu, was supposed to declare his support for his fellow kinsman in the 2023 presidential election but he decided to follow Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State to support the President-elect, Mr Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the election.

He said, “I read a story credited to Gov Ikpeazu saying there was a conspiracy to deny the Igbos presidency. Imagine a man who followed with fanfare Wike who was working for Tinubu, when he could have openly declared support for his kinsman, now in a desperate move for acceptance. Sad.”
