Gov Nwifuru felicitates Prof. Nwachukwu on his emergence as AE-FUNAI fourth VC

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi state has congratulated Professor Daniel Nwachukwu on his emergence as the Vice Chancellor of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, Ebonyi State.
In a release signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor, and made available to newsmen on Saturday, Governor Nwifuru described Nwachukwu’s appointment as “historic, and a confirmation of his outstanding academic pedigree, proven leadership capacity, and years of dedicated service to scholarship and institutional development.”
He expressed optimism that the appointment would open unprecedented doors of development, enhanced research and many positive innovations in the University, asserting that Professor Nwachukwu’s emergence was not accidental but based on hard work and experience.
The release stated: “I heartily congratulate Professor Daniel Nwachukwu, Professor of Cardiovascular Physiology and a proud son of Okposi, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, on his well-deserved emergence as the 4th Vice-Chancellor of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Abakaliki, following his appointment by the Governing Council of the University”
“This historic appointment is a confirmation and hallmark of your outstanding academic pedigree, proven leadership capacity, and years of dedicated service to scholarship and institutional development”.
“Your emergence inspires confidence among stakeholders that the University is set to witness a new era of purposeful leadership, academic excellence, and sustainable growth.
“As a Government, we are confident that your vision for the University will be thoughtfully aligned with the People’s Charter of Needs Agenda, for which Ebonyi State is now widely known and anchored on human capital development, inclusive progress, and transformational governance, and in your context, teaching, research and community services.
The Governor further noted that with the appointment, the University is expected to further strengthen its role as a centre of excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and community service under the new leadership.
Recall that Professor Nwachukwu was announced earlier on Saturday, December 20, by the University’s governing council after ther meeting held in Abakaliiki, the Ebonyi State capital.
Speaking after the selection exercise, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Engr. Dr Anthony Nnebo, said the appointment followed a transparent, merit-based process conducted in line with extant regulations.
He disclosed that eight candidates were shortlisted after the initial screening, while seven participated in the final interview adding that the council’s decision was guided by competence, integrity and the collective interest of the university.
Expressing gratitude to God and the university community, the new Vice-Chancellor described his appointment as a new beginning for AEFUNAI.
“My appointment marks a new dawn, and I promise to justify the confidence reposed in me by working tirelessly with the council, staff and students to transform AEFUNAI into a hub of academic and intellectual excellence,” he said.
Nwachukwu is the fourth substantive VC of the Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, Ebonyi state.
