An ideal home for good moral development of the child should maintain peace and harmony.The parents or guardians should avoid hot arguments and strife in the presence of the child. They should not make uncomplimentary remarks about each other, particularly before the child. From whom does a child learn the use of a foul language? Use of words like ‘stupid, mother-fxxx, son of a bxxx, are particularly common in the U.S. Of course, all other countries of the world have their own indigenous curse words in their respective languages. Nigeria has an unprinted “Wazobia” dictionary of bad and unprintable words. The word “Wazobia” is coined from the respective translation of the word “come” in the three major languages of the Yoruba ,Hausa, and Igbo tribes in Nigeria. “Wa” is a Yoruba word meaning “come” in the English language ,while “Zo” is the Hausa word for the English word “come “, and “Bia” is the Igbo equivalent word for “come” . Join the three morphemes and you get “WAZOBIA.”
Parents should not use any child as a spy for evil purposes,or as co-conspirator in any devilish scheme.Parental influence is more powerful than peer influence.Let every parent first take care of the home front. “Charity begins at home”, says the common adage. Therefore, parents should avoid leaving any negative impression on the child’s mind. There should be moderation and variation in the mode and severity of discipline given to the child. Such discipline should not be given in anger. The child should be informed of the reasons for the discipline. The child should be made to understand the benefits of correcting him.For example,no one likes to take bitter pills but for good health benefits and to prevent the deterioration of an illness.
