#EndSARS protests, an opportunity for youths to design a future of their choice, says ex-council boss

A youth political leader and rights crusader, Abiola Oluwagbenga, has described the ongoing youths driven #EndSARS campaign as an opportunity given to the younger generation to redirect the course of the destiny, urging them not to waste the chance.

Abiola, who is former Sole Administrator of Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State, becoming in the process, the youngest council boss in the state, having been appointed at 28, said the opportunity provided by the protest must be used by the younger generation to design the kind of future they wants to see in the areas of Education System, Financial System, Transportation System, Welfarism, Marketabilities, Healthcare, Security and more.

According to him, “I must say it is important we see beyond the protest, beyond the anger, beyond the rage and even beyond call. Every purpose must be driven by vision such that result is actualized.

“Our call goes beyond the demands and the protest going on at the moment. I believe it is important that all mini structures and coordination irrespective of political party affiliations, tribal sentiments and status align for the formulation of a proper policy document to create a working environment for the average Nigerian youth.

“Capital developments and major constructions are not as important as the Human Capital development and a creative environment for young vibrant minds to thrive and an encouraging environment for others to learn. How then can we come together and create true policy driven and sustainable documents as our true mandate under for the good of every single protester out there to benefit from?

“Our Tier must critically create alternative working policy advisers and documents in the following sectors below as it affects our league. And state a time frame for the government to work this out and for proper initiation; Education System, Financial System, Transportation System, Welfarism, Marketabilities,  Healthcare, Security  and more.

“This policy documents can be created with a time frame and proper monitoring, engagements, information and most importantly readiness to come up on board again where failure occurs. With this I believe we can stand down and see the effect of the result.

He reasoned that since the protest cannot possibly continue forever, there was the need for the youths to take advantage of this time to design their own future, “Can we protest forever? The answer is maybe not. But we can structure this opportunity and power returned to the people as a tool for true checks and balances different from the three structures of government checking each other as regards sustainable development, especially for the life of the average Nigerian youth. May be we can say the 4th Structure of checks and balances have been created.”
