Empty Promises, Endless Suffering: A critical analysis of President Tinubu’s August 4, 2024’s speech 

*A missed opportunity as Mr. Emilokan fails to inspire hope or confidence once again

 

I woke up, turned on the television set, and saw plans for a National broadcast. I wasn’t disappointed to see that I had wasted my time listening to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he addressed the nation, or so I thought. To that end, it is my duty to continue to hold the government accountable for its actions and policies.

 

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent speech, while acknowledging the suffering of Nigerians, falls woefully short of providing concrete solutions to the myriad problems plaguing our nation.

 

This speech in my opinion is suffering continues. Nigerians are struggling to survive, with many unable to afford even a single meal a day. The unemployment rate remains staggering, with millions of youths idle and without hope. Our roads are death traps, our education system is in shambles, and social amenities are scarce. Insecurity has reached crisis levels, with criminals roaming free and innocent lives lost daily. These reasons we are on the streets have no actionable element in Mr. Emilakan’s speech.

 

Rather, we have another plagiarized speech once again. This is because, in a shocking revelation, it has come to light that the speech delivered by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu this morning was already available on the internet yesterday. This means that what we saw was a speech, devoid of original thought or genuine commitment to addressing the nation’s challenges. The President’s team has demonstrated a staggering lack of creativity and integrity.

 

The President’s speech, rather than offering tangible solutions, resorts to empty rhetoric and platitudes. There is no clear plan to address the economic stagnation, no strategy to create jobs, no commitment to fixing our infrastructure, and no vision for a safer, more prosperous Nigeria. It will not be wrong to say, “We had a speech without substance.”

 

The speech which lacks of actionable elements fails to provide:

*A comprehensive plan to tackle unemployment and stimulate economic growth*

*A clear roadmap for rebuilding our education system and making it accessible to all.

*A tangible strategy for addressing insecurity and protecting Nigerian lives.

*A commitment to investing in infrastructure and social amenities.

 

Let me urge the President to move beyond words and take concrete actions to address the suffering of Nigerians. We are in the streets to demand:

A clear plan to create jobs and stimulate economic growth, a comprehensive strategy to rebuild our education system and make it accessible to all, a tangible plan to address insecurity and protect Nigerian lives, and a commitment to investing in infrastructure and social amenities.

 

Nigerians deserve better than empty promises and endless suffering. We demand action, not words. The President must rise to the challenge and provide leadership that inspires hope and confidence. Anything less is a betrayal of the trust placed in him by his APC brainless members. I say this because Nigerians did not vote for him albinitio. He and his APC machinery imposed himself and themselves on us.
