Ebonyi State Government has concluded plans to deploy Artificial Intelligence, AI in administering governance across all sectors in the state.
The move is part of efforts towards enhancing accountability in governance and promoting accuracy in the discharge of official government functions.
Governor Francis Nwifuru revealed this, Wednesday, in Abakaliki, the state capital.
He spoke while declaring open the 18th Eastern Zonal Conference of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) hosted in the State.
The Governor who described Ebonyi as a fast growing state, said it targets to take the lead in the utilization of modern technologies in enhancing administrative convenience and effective resource management.
He extolled the contributions of professional Accountants in the development and management of the nation’s economy and pledged the state’s support and collaboration with the body in driving sustainable economic development.
Nwifuru stated: “In our state, we recognize the importance of the accounting profession in shaping our financial policies and ensuring that public funds are utilized efficiently and responsibly.
“It is through your expertise and dedication that we are able to uphold the highest standards of financial management and governance.
“We are committed to supporting the accounting profession and creating an environment that fosters growth and innovation.
“I firmly believe that the strength of our economy and the well-being of our society depend on the trust and confidence we place in our financial systems.
“Accountants play a vital role in this: ensuring that our businesses, organizations, and government entities operate with honesty and efficiency.”
In his address, the 59th President of ICAN, Dr Innocent Okwuosa, assured the Governor that ICAN as a body would continue to be relentless in offering technical and professional advice and services for enhanced development in the country.
Okwuosa, while commending Nwifuru’s people-centric approach to governance, appreciated the Governor for availing the body his esteemed presence in the 3-day conference.
The conference brought together professional accountants from all walks of life.
