Ebonyi Mayhem: Umahi orders arrest, prosecution of APC Chairman over killing of 3 persons

Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has ordered the immediate arrest and prosecution of the State Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Stanley Emegha, over the killing of three persons at Ekoli-Edda, in Afikpo South Local Government of the state.

 

Umahi also ordered the arrest of the APC Candidate for Afikpo North/Afikpo South Federal Constituency, Chief Eni Uduma Chima, for their roles in the murder which took place on Tuesday.

 

Governor Umahi gave the directive during an on-the-spot assessment of the level of damage in the area.

 

The Governor also directed the Commissioner of Police to arrest all those connected with the carnage and ensure they face justice.

 

While announcing the suspension of all social gatherings in Edda until normalcy returns, Umahi urged the Commissioner of Police to saturate the area with security operatives to forestall further breakdown of law and order.

 

As at the time of filing this report, the whole Ekoli Edda had been cordoned off by a combined team of the Police, Army and the Ebubeagu Security outfit.

 

In a statement, Police Public Relations officer (PPRO), Ebonyi State Command, DSP. Chris Anyanwu, confirmed the incident.

 

He started that investigation into the Arson and killings has commenced, saying that those involved will be brought to book.
