Prophet Isa El-Buba of the Evangelical Outreach Ministries International, has admonished Christians to remain confident in Christ as Jesus is the only gate-way to eternity.
El-buba stated this on Wednesday in Jos, during a Celebration of Life for ceremony of late Mama Comfort Ogbamgba, mother of a top flying journalist, Mr. Kelechi C. Ogbamgba.
Quoting from the scriptures, Luke 16:19-31, El-buba gave the account of Lazarus and the rich Man, stating that the rich man was not remembered by his riches while on earth, but his works which did not qualify him to gain eternal life in Christ.
He stressed that Christ should be the center of our existence which is the only passport to heaven.
“Life is transient, we can only be remembered by our good works, we must live in Christ. He is the confidence of eternity. We must live today like our last. We don’t know the last minute,” El-buba said.
Earlier in her welcome address, Mrs. Obiageli Emenike, first daughter to late Mrs. Ogbamgba, said that although Mama had a fierce battle particularly at the tail end of her life, she bore it all with adroit determination and absolute faith in God, more so as she did not want to be seen as being a burden to her children.
“Even in old age she fought like a soldier and finally bowed to death at a time she was already showing signs of total recovery. We therefore have no doubt in our minds that she left, not because of the sickness, but she merely left when her Maker felt it was time for her to come home,” Mrs. Emenike said.
In his remarks, the immediate past Chaplain, Plateau State Government House, and the son of Mama, Pastor Chidiebere Ogbamgba, lauded Prophet El-buba for the fatherly role he played in the family of the Ogbamgba’s. He added that having confidence in Christ will fill the vacuum left by his late mother.
Our correspondent reports that testimonies of friends and relatives of late Mrs. Ogbamgba was filled with her service, love and dedication to the work of Christ.
In his oration about Madam Comfort Ogbamgba, her last son, Mr. John Ogbamgba, said Mama will be remembered as “a thorough disciplinarian, counsellor, Women leader and Christian Mother-in-Israel who impacted and moulded the lives of her children with her husband, Mazi Gilbert Umezurike Ogbamgba, who died in 1993.
“She was a devoted Christian, a key leader of the Methodist Church where she served in the vineyard of the Lord for many decades as a Children Church Teacher, Women Leader and Lay Preacher through which she impacted on and moulded many lives and raised generations of children who have grown to become adults and parents.”
Among personalities at the colourful and well attended event were Obioma Ogbamgba, Mama’s second daughter; the surviving siblings of the deceased, Elder Victor Emeanwu with his wife Mrs. Patricia and children, and Mrs. Beatrice Udofia alongside her husband, Mr. Udofia.
Others included Mrs. Uzo Ogbamgba, Pastor Chidiebere’s wife; and Pastor Uche Umege and his wife, Onyinyeche, Mama’s last child.
Also in attendance were Pastors and members of Oasis of Love Church; Evangelical Bible Outreach Ministry (EBOMI); Omega Fire Ministry; the Deeper Life Bible Church; and Trinity Methodist Church, Alheri, Jos, where Mama worshipped before her death on December 23, 2020.
Mrs. Comfort Onyekaozuru Ogbamgba will be buried in April 2021, our correspondent reports.
