Chatham House: Shagari berates Tinubu, says we won’t vote for candidate who can’t answer questions
Mukhtar Shehu Shagari, former Minister of Water Resources and former president of the African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW) while speaking during an exclusive interview with the Channels Television has reacted to Bola Tinubu’s visit to the Chatham House.
Former Governor of Lagos State and Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu spoke at the Chatham House where he addressed the British Royal Institution on Nigeria’s 2023 elections, national security, economic, and foreign policy imperatives.
It was said that Bola Tinubu who spoke on different issues concerning his educational qualifications, health status, and other allegations delegated some of his politicians that went there with him to answer questions directed to him, which has gotten many Nigerians talking.
Based on these notes, the former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Mukhtar Shagari while speaking during an interview with the Channels Television made it known that Chatham House is not a place you go to with a team of people and delegate them to respond to questions which were directed to you, adding that Nigerians cannot vote for a candidate who isn’t ready to respond to questions.
According to Mukhtar Shagari, “Chatham House is a place you go and tell the whole world and the people in your country what you intend to do if elected. Chatham House is a place you should be prepared to answer hard questions.
Chatham House is not a place where you go with a team of people and when they ask you a question, you will point at someone and say you answer the question. It is you who is the candidate, it is you who wants to rule Nigeria that should answer the question. I didn’t like it and I think it is an insult to Nigerians.”
