The national legal adviser of All Progressives Congress (APC), Ahmed El-Marzuq, has resigned from his position in the party. The Punch reported that El-Marzuq resigned from the ruling party’s National Working Committee (NWC) on Wednesday, August 2nd, 2023.
The legal icon who is believed to be an ally of the former national chairman of APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, reportedly threw in the towel under some form of pressure, following the exit of Adamu,
Deputy national organising secretary of the APC, Nze Chidi Duru, however, confirmed the report, Following a series of calls to him to authenticate the report, Duru replied via text message to confirm El-Marzuq’s departure. “Yes,” he said but declined to comment further. Meanwhile, the 12th National Executive Committee (NEC), meeting of the party, which is currently underway in Abuja, is expected to name a replacement.
Meanwhile,former federal lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has reacted to the emergence of former Kano state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as the new national chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Sani said Ganduje is now in charge of the ruling party and that the head symbolises the body.
He stated this via his Twitter handle @ShehuSani after the news of Ganduje’s emergence broke. He simply wrote: “The Head symbolises the body; Ganduje in charge.”
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has cleared the air regarding the appointment of former Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje as the party’s new national chairman. The APC spokesperson in the state, Mr Wasiu Olawale Sadare, in a chat on Wednesday, August 2nd, maintained that the reports about Ganduje’s appointment as the party’s new chairman are “false and mere speculation.”
He added that the leadership of the party would work around the agitations for the vacant positions at the appointed time and the way forward will be communicated to all.
