Boko Haram insurgents in deadly attack kill army Captain, soldier in Borno
Boko Haram terrorists have launched a deadly attack on the Izge community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, killing an army captain and a soldier.
The terrorists attacked our community around 1 am, and unfortunately, a captain and a soldier lost their lives
According to the Emir of Gwoza, HRH Alhaji Mohammed Shehu Timta, the attack occurred around 1 am on Wednesday, when the terrorists stormed the area and engaged troops.
“The terrorists attacked our community around 1 am, and unfortunately, a captain and a soldier lost their lives,” the Emir said. “However, our gallant troops, Civilian JTF, hunters, and vigilantes fought back, killing three terrorists and forcing them to abandon their weapons and over 10 motorcycles.”
The Emir commended the soldiers for their bravery and coordination with other security operatives in repelling the attack. He also thanked the Borno State governor, Prof Babagana Umara Zulum, for providing logistics support to the security operatives.

This latest attack comes amid a renewed onslaught by Boko Haram in the North East region. On Saturday, the group attacked the 27 Task Force Brigade in Buni Yadi, Yobe State, killing at least four soldiers and destroying operational equipment.
The Emir has called on the federal government to equip security operatives with technological warfare to enhance their effectiveness in combating the insurgency.
