Air Peace accuses Oshiomole of peddling falsehood after airport row, asks FAAN to release CCTV footage

Air Peace has accused a former Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomole, of peddling misinformation and lies against it.

On Wednesday, the airline released a statememt condemning the unruly activities of a “prominent politician” who assaulted its staff and disrupted airline operations at the Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos.

Although the airline failed to disclose the identity of the politician, videos that circulated on X at the time suggested Oshiomole was the politician Air Peace referred to. The Guardian earlier reported that Nigerians asked the airline to call out his name and not shield him.

Following this, Oshiomole accused the airline of extorting its passengers. He also said he arrived early to the airport and the airline made him miss his flight.

In another statement released on Wednesday night, the airline refuted Oshiomole’s claims, asking him to provide evidence to support his claims.

“Our attention has been drawn to the deliberate falsehood being peddled by Senator Adams Oshiomole against Air Peace.

“The Senator lied blatantly when he accused Air Peace of extorting its passengers. We challenge Senator Oshiomole to bring one evidence of a passenger that was extorted,” the statement read.

Air Peace further reiterated that the former governor behaved unruly after he was informed that he had missed his flight and prevented the check-in process for other passengers.

According to the airline, he jumped on the baggage conveyor belt, barricaded the entrance gate and prevented access to the terminal and instigated other passengers against it on Wednesday.

It also appealed to the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to intervene by releasing CCTV footage of Oshiomole at the airport.

“We call on the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to release the CCTV coverage starting from the time Senator Oshiomole entered the airport, for Nigerians to see. His accusation of extortion is very defamatory. His conduct was very violent, unbecoming, unfortunate and above all, shameful,” it added.
