FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has said he is the most abused politician in Nigeria after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as he announced that political activities in Rivers State will formally commence in January 2026.
Wike made the remarks on Saturday while speaking at a thanksgiving service organised in honour of a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche, in the Ochiba community of Ahoada East Local Government Area.
The former Rivers State governor used the occasion to reaffirm his loyalty to President Tinubu, insisting that he is not known for abandoning agreements or walking away from political commitments made in good faith.
Wike also expressed appreciation to the people of Ahoada East and Ahoada West for their consistent support over the years, describing their loyalty as steadfast and unwavering.
Reflecting on the 2023 general elections, he praised residents of the area for standing firmly with Tinubu at a time when many political actors were still undecided.
According to him, their early support helped to consolidate the President’s political strength in Rivers State.
In what appeared to be a swipe at politicians who recently pitched their tents with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Wike suggested that some of the new alignments came too late.
He stressed that political agreements must be respected, warning that his political family would not be taken for granted as preparations for the next election cycle begin.
The FCT minister, further, explained that the frequent criticisms and attacks directed at him were largely a result of his insistence on accountability and strict adherence to agreements, alleging that some politicians resort to abusing him in pursuit of personal interests.
Earlier in his remarks, Chibudom Nwuche praised Wike for his developmental strides in the Ekpeye Kingdom, particularly the elevation of several traditional stools during his time as governor.
He said Wike’s leadership left a lasting impact on the people of the area, earning him enduring loyalty and respect.
