2027: APC is a bad market, will fail woefully in Southeast — ADC chieftain Akuma
African Democratic Congress (ADC) Chieftain, Nelson Ahamefula Akuma, has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will fail woefully in the southeast in the 2027 general election.
Speaking while reacting to the comment made by the Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, that no opposition can stop Tinubu in the South East, and that the opposition coalition should close ranks and support Tinubu’s 2027 presidential ambition for a better and prosperous Nigeria,
Akuma maintained that there is no way any APC candidates in the south east would win elections because the party has failed the people, reports News Express.
According to him, the All Progressives Congress is a bad market, adding that nobody in his right senses would patronize such a product.
He further said that an election is an appraisal of an incumbent’s stewardship, and that there is nothing that the party can boast of that it has done for the people of the southeast since it hijacked power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015.
Speaking further, he said that southeast geo-political zone is the most marginalized with regard to political appointments and capital projects.
According to him, while the constitution stipulated that one minister each should be appointed from each of the 36 states, southeast as a whole has only one substantial minister, while Ogun state alone has four substantive ministers.
“My brother, the governor of Ebonyi, Chief Francis Nwifuru, said that we, the people of South-East, should remain supportive of the President, but with the APC’s numerous failures, how can we be supportive of a president and party that has inflicted pain and hardship on the masses. How can we remain supportive of a party that is telling Nigerians to fast while it is feasting? So, I can confidently say that no one, whether individual or group, who is experiencing what we are all going through, will vote for APC in 2027 because it is a very bad market. African Democratic Congress has come to clear the tears of Nigeria and that is the new hope of Nigerians. That is why APC members are jittery but it is too late in the day. We have given them 10 good years but they have failed in every sector of the economy and there is no way we will continue to do the same thing and expect a different result.”
According to him, APC has renegade in all of its promises to Nigerians.
He said that the primary responsibility of government is protection of lives and properties, adding that the party has failed woefully on the responsibility and as such must not continue in office.
“On what basis would southeasterners in particular and Nigerians in general vote for APC in 2027. Look at the level of insecurity and hunger. A lot of Nigerians are going to bed without food. Even nobody again knows where or when his or her next meal will come. Upon that, sleeping with two eyes closed has also become a problem. You cannot eat well, you cannot sleep well and when you become sick you cannot afford to buy medicine. There is no way we can continue like this,” Chief Akuma said.
