2023 Abia Guber: Lay not your PVC treasure upon billboards where thieves and rust will destroy them, Abia voters told

The gubernatorial flag-bearer of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), in Abia – Apostle Dr Ngozika Gladys Johnson-Ogbuneke, has called on the people of Abia State to disregard the presence or absences of billboards, as a measure of who the next Governor of the State should be.

 

As most people in Abia State are Christians by Faith, she implored of them to reflect on the Word of the Scriptures at Matthew6:19 which calls on Christians not to lay their treasures, their faith on earthy values which are easily destroyed but to put their trust, their faith on tangible and enduring values of each candidate, measuring them by character, capacity to govern, courage to speak and act for the people, antecedents of their previous works, the lineage and pedigrees in the society and their contributions to the betterment of the all, within the Society.

 

She cautioned that a situation where the sitting PDP led government, has made it difficult for some Parties not to mount billboards, or protect the billboards of everyone but selectively allowing only PDP candidates to the uses of the City Stadiums and Public spaces cannot be the yardstick by which Abians will use to measure and choose their next Governor.

 

There can be no equal nor fair elections by such standards she decried.

 

She therefore encouraged all Abians to ignore those Billboards, which according to her could have served as good monies to feed so many hundreds of hungry children in the Streets of Aba and Umuahia. The measure of the works of a good Governor is much more than billboards, she concluded.
