The University of Ilorin has recorded a landmark achievement, with 16 of its law graduates earning First Class Honours in the latest Bar Final Examinations conducted by the Nigerian Law School.
The milestone, described as the highest in the institution’s history, also saw 58 other graduates secure Second Class Upper division.
The University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun, disclosed the development in a statement issued in Ilorin, noting that the performance surpasses the previous record of 10 First Class graduates set in 2023.
Akogun attributed the feat to the institution’s sustained commitment to academic excellence and the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN.
According to him, the Vice-Chancellor has significantly strengthened service delivery and academic standards within the university, particularly in the Faculty of Law.
Reacting to the development, Egbewole expressed delight at the outcome, describing it as a proud moment for both the Faculty and the University.
He noted that the achievement reflects not only the brilliance, discipline and resilience of the graduates but also the strong academic foundation and culture of excellence fostered at the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor, who is a member of the Body of Benchers, added that he had always expected the Faculty of Law to attain record-breaking feats, citing its quality of staffing, facilities and academic delivery.
He commended the First Class graduates for distinguishing themselves and urged all successful candidates to remain worthy ambassadors of the University in their future careers.
