A tragic incident marred the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations in Tasha Dinya Village, Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State, as a teenage boy lost his life and another was left fighting for survival after a brutal clash over a young woman.
The violent encounter, which unfolded in the early hours of April 2, 2025, has left the community in shock and mourning, reports TGnews.
According to intelligence sources, the altercation involved 18-year-old Idrisu Nuhu and his 16-year-old cousin, Ahmadu Lawali. The two reportedly became embroiled in a heated dispute around 4:30 a.m., which quickly escalated into a deadly confrontation. Armed with machetes, the cousins turned on each other in a ferocious exchange that resulted in catastrophic injuries.
Police reports indicate that Idrisu suffered a devastating cut to his head, while Ahmadu sustained a life-threatening wound to his neck.

A relative, Nuhu Alhaji Muazu, acted swiftly to transport the injured boys to the Malabu Primary Health Care Clinic. Despite efforts to save him, Idrisu succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by the attending physician. Ahmadu, meanwhile, remains in critical condition, battling to recover from his severe wounds.
Authorities have since secured the scene, recovering two blood-stained cutlasses as evidence. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Adamawa State Police Command has taken over the case, launching a comprehensive probe to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the fatal brawl. Preliminary findings suggest the fight stemmed from a rivalry over a young woman, though details remain under investigation.
