2027: Peter Obi rules out vice-presidential role, confirms fresh presidential bid 

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has made it clear that he has no intention of serving as anyone’s running mate in the 2027 presidential election.

 

Speaking on Sunday night during a discussion on 𝕏 Space, Obi confirmed that he plans to contest the presidency again in 2027. He said his political journey and years of experience were not built for him to end up as a vice president, reports Gwg.com.

 

According to him, he has invested too much time learning about governance and leadership to settle for a secondary role. Obi insisted that his ambition remains focused on leading the country.

 

He said, “I am not travelling round the world to learn governance to be Vice President.

 

“I know how to turn Nigeria around. I built my business from scratch and have more experience than any candidate, including the sitting President

 

“Peter Obi will be on the ballot in 2027. I need your support. I need your prayers.”

 

Obi also spoke on recent talks surrounding political alliances ahead of the election. He disclosed that members of the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition have agreed to work together, stressing that no one is stepping down for him.

 

The former Anambra State governor further explained that he does not need to officially join the ADC because he has always been part of the coalition from the beginning.

 

Clarifying his position, Obi said his membership in the ADC is not new and that he has remained involved since the coalition was formed.

 

He also addressed his relationship with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, noting that he still holds him in high regard and would continue to respect him.

 

In his words, “I am not joining ADC. I can’t re-join what I am already a part of.

 

“I’ve been part of the coalition from day one.

 

“Nobody is stepping down for me in ADC.

 

“We have all agreed to work together, and Atiku remains my respected leader.”
