Genocide in Nigeria: US Congressman Riley Moore shares harrowing stories from victims
A US Congressman, Riley Moore, has shared his harrowing experience after visiting Nigeria, where he witnessed the devastating impact of violence on Christian communities.
Moore, who led a Congressional delegation to Benue State, met with victims who recounted brutal attacks by Fulani militants, including a woman forced to watch her five children being killed.
“I’ve never seen anything like it. It will stay with me the rest of my life,” Moore said, describing the situation as a “genocidal campaign” aimed at erasing Christians from their ancestral homeland.
The delegation’s visit aimed to gather facts and inform a report to President Donald Trump, highlighting concerns over Christian persecution. Moore emphasized that the attacks are part of a “genocide” against Christians, with over 7,000 killed in Nigeria this year alone.
The Nigerian government has denied these allegations, citing insecurity affecting all faiths. However, Moore stressed that the US will not tolerate continued violence against Christians or other forms of religious persecution.
“We stand ready to work cooperatively with the Nigerians to help their nation combat the terrorism perpetrated by Boko Haram, ISWAP, and Fulani militants against their population, specifically Christians in the Northeast and Middle Belt regions of Nigeria,” Moore said.
