Olubadan Ladoja charges traditional rulers to prioritize security in Ibadanland
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, has directed all traditional rulers in Ibadanland to take immediate action to ensure the security of lives and property in the region.
The monarch gave the charge during a meeting with members of the Association of His Royal Highnesses of Ibadanland at the Olubadan Palace Oke-Aremo, Ibadan, emphasizing that traditional rulers have a primary responsibility to protect their subjects.
Oba Ladoja expressed disappointment with the presence of Fulani herdsmen, land grabbers, and other criminals in Ibadanland, stating that their activities could not thrive without the knowledge and support of traditional rulers.
“We will no longer tolerate the dilapidated buildings in urban and rural areas that serve as hideouts for miscreants,” Oba Ladoja warned, urging traditional rulers to take steps to address the issue.
The Olubadan also frowned at the trend of traditional rulers abandoning their family compounds for estates or foreign countries, emphasizing that they have a duty to visit and rebuild their ancestral homes.
The Chairman of the Association of His Royal Highnesses in Ibadanland, His Royal Highness, Oba Adebowale Kamarudeen Adeyemi, pledged the commitment of traditional rulers to work with the Olubadan to build a peaceful and prosperous Ibadanland.
The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration among traditional rulers and address pressing issues affecting Ibadanland, including insecurity, land grabbing, and urban decay.
