Mass Abduction: Detailed list of kidnapped Kwara church members emerges as captors contact families

A detailed list of worshippers at Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Eruku town in Ekiti LGA of Kwara State abductees four days ago has emerged hours after their captors demanded N100m ransom per abductee.

 

Community sources who are still very much gripped by the awry experience revealed that the assailants have begun reaching out to families of the captives for negotiations, reports Daily Independent.

 

Confirming the development, the Olori Eta of Eruku, Chief Olusegun Olukotun, disclosed that four members of his family were among those whisked away. According to him, he was inside the church with five relatives when the gunmen struck. He managed to flee with one ward by jumping through a window at about 6:06 p.m.

 

Olukotun said the abductors had already begun placing calls to different families:

 

“From what we gathered from the kidnappers’ camp, they (kidnappers) have grouped the victims according to their relations and are now calling our people through each of the group.

 

“Some people in the community have received calls from the kidnappers demanding N100m for each person but as regard my own people I have not receive any call concerning them, so I am still waiting,” he said.

 

The community leader also expressed emphasised the urgent need for stronger security deployment in Eruku, a border town long vulnerable to criminal incursions.

 

He further urged the government to upgrade the local vigilante outfit with modern defensive equipment capable of matching the firepower of the attackers.
