PFN launches Benue crisis relief initiatives to support displaced families
The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Lagos State Chapter, has unveiled an extensive report detailing its Benue Crisis Relief Initiative, aimed at aiding victims displaced by the recent violent attacks in Yelwata, Benue State. These attacks have been met with widespread condemnation and have resulted in the displacement of hundreds of families.
In response to this urgent crisis, PFN Lagos, in collaboration with Acts of Mercy and Sesor Empowerment Foundation, initiated the Benue Relief Campaign. This initiative successfully mobilized an impressive N46.2 million in contributions from churches and individuals across Lagos. These funds were utilized to procure essential items, including mattresses, bedsheets, household essentials, foodstuffs, and groceries, which will be distributed to around 1,000 displaced families residing in IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) camps in Yelwata and its surrounding areas.
Chairman of the PFN Lagos State Chapter, Pastor Yemi Davids, emphasized the Church’s role in responding to this crisis, stating, “Instead of cursing the darkness, the Church must shine the light.”
This initiative not only highlights PFN Lagos’ dedication to accountability and compassion but also their commitment to responsible leadership in times of need.
As part of their relief efforts, the PFN team, alongside their partners, documented the distribution of relief materials through verified video footage, showcasing the transparency and direct impact of their campaign to ensure that support reaches those in need effectively.
This collaborative effort is a testament to the resilience of the faith community in Lagos and their unwavering commitment to supporting fellow Nigerians during times of crisis.
