How ‘ruthless’ Chelsea crushed PSG 3-0 to win 2025 Club World Cup

Underdogs Chelsea Football Club, Sunday night, July 13, 2025, stunned hot favourites Paris St-Germain (PSG) with three unreplied goals to merge champions of the revamped Club World Cup.
Playing before a packed MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, USA, the English Premier League giants dominated the usually high-scoring French Ligue 1 and European champions from the blast of the whistle, reports News Express.
The pressure paid off from the 22nd minute when Cole Palmer slotted in the opener, extending the lead eight minutes later. As the first half drew towards the end, João Pedro added to PSG’s misery in the 43rd.
European champions PSG were seeking their fifth trophy of an extraordinary season but it was not to be.
Their efforts to reduce the tally on the restart were futile, with Chelsea adding the world trophy to the Conference League cup they won in May.
It went from bad to worse for PSG when Joao Neves saw red card for pulling Marc Cucurella’s hair.
US President Trump was among dignitaries in attendance while Nigeria’s Afrobeat star Tems was among music stars who entertained at the grande finale.
