The Presidency has dismissed the newly adopted coalition party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), saying coalition will soon scatter. It warned Nigerians to be cautious of these political elements who are trying to set the country back by decades

This was contained in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the spokesperson to President Bola Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga.

He warned Nigerians against paying attention to the newly formed coalition against the current administration.

He noted that the likes of Abubakar Malami, Rotimi Amaechi, Hadi Sirika and Rauf Aregbesola have left the ruling party a time long ago.

Recall that earlier on Wednesday, leaders of the coalition met at the Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, where they formally adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their platform to challenge the APC in 2027.

Prominent figures in attendance included former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; Labour Party’s Peter Obi; former governors Nasir El-Rufai and Rotimi Amaechi; and other political stakeholders such as Dino Melaye, Dele Momodu, Solomon Dalung, Senator Gabriel Suswam, Senator Ireti Kingibe, Emeka Ihedioha, and retired Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar

Reacting to the coalition, Onanuga maintained that the leaders of the coalition are united only by their hatred for Tinubu. A development, he said cannot be good for Nigeria.

He noted that the leaders are desperados aiming to set the country back by decades.

According to him, APC will not mourn the exit of such members like Rotimi Amaechi. Who, he said, left the party in 2022 after losing the presidential primary to Tinubu.

On Malami, the presidential spokesman pointed out that he has never been on the side of Tinubu. And he has not hidden his estrangement from the ruling party especially after he lost his governorship bid in Kebbi State.

On Sirika, Onanuga, in the statement, said he is facing “trial for contract splitting and other allegations.”

Just as he dismissed Aregbesola, who had been expelled from the APC over alleged anti-party activities. He pointed out that Aregbesola lack political relevance for APC to lose sleep over.

Onanuga described Kashim Imam and former National Chairman of the APC, John Odigie Oyegun as nothing but disgruntled politicians who have abandoned the party.

He said, “My advice to Nigerians: Keep your eyes wide open. A political party with no clear agenda or ideology. Whose members are united only by their hatred for President Tinubu—cannot be good for our country. It will only set us back by decades.”

The President spokesperson, warned Nigerians not to fall for the antics of the politicians. Who, according to him, are just desperate and hungry to clinch power from the APC and Tinubu just for themselves and do not care about Nigerians.

“They want power at all costs because they cannot endure another four years in the political wilderness. Or be banished to political winter and irrelevance,” he said.

Onanuga warned that “What is certain is that the group will soon unravel due to their irreconcilable personal ambitions.”
