Midnight Intruder: Man breaks into FCMB Bank, locks himself in ceiling in desperate hack attempt
A bizarre security breach unfolded at the FCMB branch in the Secretariat area of Abuja after a man entered the bank, locked himself in the restroom, climbed into the suspended ceiling, and launched a late-night attempt to hack the bank’s internal systems, according to staff accounts.
The man walked into the bank during off-hours and immediately headed for the restroom, locking himself inside.
After some time, he climbed through the restroom ceiling tiles into the hidden crawl space above the bank hall.
He remained in the ceiling into the night—and early the next morning, remaining unseen by bank staff who left for the day.
When staff returned the next morning:
They found the restroom door locked from the inside and forced entry.
Inside the ceiling space, they discovered the man crouched above the offices.
An attempt to power up the system triggered a suspicious message: “restarting, click OK to accept.”
An employee said: “He was in the ceiling all night, trying to take control of the systems.”
The man was promptly taken into custody by security personnel, awaiting transfer to the FCT Police Command for further investigation.
