In a grand display of Igbo cultural heritage, Associate Professor of Obstetric and Gynecology, Chidi Uzoma Esike, handed over his daughter, Dr. Chisom Nneoma Chidi-Esike, to her fiancé, Obinna Jonny Osueke, in a traditional marriage ceremony held at his country home in Umuokogbuo, Eluama, Isuikwuato, Abia State.

The vibrant celebration, which took place on Saturday, June 21, was attended by prominent figures in the medical profession, friends, and family members from various states, including Abia, Abakaliki, Ebonyi, and Imo. Notable guests included Professor Christian Aluka, former Provost of Abia State College of Medicine, and his wife, Dr. Mrs. Agwaoma Blossom Aluka.

During the ceremony, Professor Esike advised the couple to cultivate tolerance and understanding in their marriage, drawing from his own experiences. He prayed for God’s blessings on their union, wishing them prosperity, children, and the ability to live impactful lives.

The traditional wedding ceremony followed the Igbo cultural tradition, where the bride dances to find her groom, who hides among the guests, and presents him with the remaining palm wine as a symbol of their union.

The event was filled with music, dance, and merriment, as family members, friends, and well-wishers came together to celebrate the union. Traditional rulers, including His Royal Highness, Eze Ebere Ogbuneke, HRH, Eze Joseph Onyezebe, and HRH, Eze Ndubuisi Alatta, graced the ceremony with their presence.

As the newlyweds embark on their new life together, Professor Esike’s words of wisdom will undoubtedly serve as a guiding light for their marital journey.
