Dare-devil sea pirates have stormed Nigerian waters, disposing a sip crew of some of their belongings.

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) confirmed the attack in a statement issued this Friday morning, April 25, 2025, by its Head, Public Relations, Osagie Edward, reports News Express.

It disclosed that its officials “at the C4i center monitoring the situation on Tuesday 21st April 2025 noted an illegal boarding of a Marshall Islands-flagged chemical tanker “Sea Panther” southwest of Brass, Nigeria.

“This is the first of such attempted sea robbery in Nigerian waters since 2021.”

The Agency further disclosed that, “Four individuals boarded the vessel and made away with some personal items of crew members.”

It, however, expressed relief that “all crew members are safe and MT Sea Panther has since sailed off Nigerian waters safely.”

NIMASA said that it is “working closely with relevant security agencies and further investigations into the incident are ongoing.”
