Peter Obi recently responded to Kemi Badenoch, a Nigerian-born leader in the UK’s Conservative Party, who made negative remarks about Nigeria.

In January, Kemi stated that she did not want Britain to become like Nigeria, citing the country’s poor governance and destruction of lives, eliciting mixed reactions from Nigerians, with some criticizing her and others believing she was simply stating the obvious.

In response to her views about the nation, the former Governor of Anambra State took to his official X handle to urge Nigerians to view her criticisms as an opportunity to emphasize development and improve citizens’ lives rather than getting defensive or patriotic.

He said, “Recently, Nigerian-born Kemi Badenoch, a leader in the United Kingdom’s Conservative Party, took a serious swipe at our dear country. She stated that she would not want Britain to become like poor Nigeria, where a failed government destroys lives. Nigerians have had mixed reactions to her comments some have criticized her, while others feel she simply stated the obvious and should not be vi

lified.”
