BREAKING: Bauchi Gov approves recruitment of 3,000 teachers, to commence cash transfer to 9,000 beneficiaries

In a move to strengthen the educational system in Bauchi State, Governor Bala Mohammed has approved the recruitment of 3,000 teachers to be deployed to Junior and Senior secondary schools across the state. This initiative is part of the state’s commitment to the objectives of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project.

 

2,000 of the recruited teachers will be assigned to Junior secondary schools, while 1,000 will serve in Senior secondary schools

 

According to Ali Gar, the Project Coordinator of AGILE in the state, 2,000 of the recruited teachers will be assigned to Junior secondary schools, while 1,000 will serve in Senior secondary schools. The recruitment aims to address the pupil-to-teacher ratio gap in schools benefiting from the project. The newly recruited teachers will be employed by the Bauchi State Government and will be selected from the beneficiary communities to enhance participation and foster a sense of ownership.

 

Also commence Conditional Cash Transfers for approximately 9,000 registered girls under the initiative

 

In addition to the recruitment, the AGILE project will also commence Conditional Cash Transfers for approximately 9,000 registered girls under the initiative. The beneficiaries will receive a registration fee of N15,000 and N20,000 for the first term, followed by N10,000 for subsequent terms, provided they maintain at least 75% attendance. The project has also fully procured ICT facilities and skills acquisition tools, although only 9,000 out of the targeted 20,250 beneficiaries have been captured in the past ten weeks.

 

The Executive Chairman of Bauchi Local Government, Mahmood Babama’aji, has praised the AGILE technical team for their dedication to implementing the project and expressed confidence in the School-Based Management Committees’ capacity to deliver on their mandates.
