Air Peace debunks false social media claims about Abuja-Lagos flight incident 

Air Peace has debunked a viral video circulating on social media, which it describes as false, misleading, and designed to sow confusion about the boarding process for Flight P47123 from Abuja to Lagos on December 20, 2024.

 

Dr. Ejike Ndiulo, Head of Corporate Communications, dismissed the claims, emphasizing that the video was a deliberate attempt by unknown individuals to misinform the public and distract the airline’s stakeholders and regulators.

 

The delays on the day in question were attributed to adverse weather conditions caused by harmattan-induced haze and fog, which disrupted flight operations across the country. In response, Air Peace deployed three aircraft to Abuja to minimize passenger disruptions.

 

However, during boarding, passengers overwhelmed FAAN officials and boarding staff, leading to a rush at the airside. Duty managers and ramp officials intervened by setting up barricades to manage the situation and ensure orderly boarding.

 

The airline strongly condemned the misinformation in the video. “Such representations are not reflective of our values or operations,” Dr. Ndiulo stated, urging the public to disregard the claims entirely.

 

Air Peace reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to passenger safety and apologized for any inconvenience caused by the delays. “The safety of our passengers and crew is our utmost priority and a fundamental precondition for all our activities,” the statement reiterated.
